William Raiford Ennis
December 16, 1963 - May 27, 2011
William Raiford Ennis, 47, passed away Friday evening in Savannah.
He was born on December 16, 1963 in Richmond, VA and grew up at Isle of Hope. Raiford was one of the first students of Chatham Academy, as his special needs were the impetus for his mother to found the Academy. He was an employee of Golden Corral. Raiford had a wide range of interests including bird watching and reading, but more especially traveling, animals, geography and religion. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church at Isle of Hope.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Linda and Stetson Fleming; father, Robert Sheldon Ennis; brother, Robert Sheldon Ennis, Jr.; sisters, Ansley Ennis Carver and Julia Kelly Rodgers; step-brothers, Monroe Kelly, Julian Kelly, Austin Fleming and Kevin Fleming; step-sister, Kathleen Howard and five nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with burial following at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Raiford Ennis Scholarship Fund c/o Chatham Academy.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of growing up on Island Drive. I will always see Raiford walking down the road to our house with an arm full of new books to share. He was a gentle soul who I will always remember. My thoughts and prayers to all. God's peace.

Are last conversation was by phone recently and I thought the world of him. He was so funny especially about his Cowboys.
